SKIL 6445-04 ½ INCH HAMMER DRILL Review
THE SKIL 6445-04 ½ INCH HAMMER DRILL
The SKIL 6445-01 ½ inch hammer drill is a great buy. It’s ideal for tougher applications that need a little extra power and is built to get the job done. The SKIL 6445-04 hammer drill is a heavy duty power machine. It is a corded electric device and will require a plug in when you go to work on your projects. It may change the maneuverability a bit, but by adding an extension cord you’ll have plenty of room to work with.
It’s a great option considering that the price of this hammer drill combined with the price of a sturdy extension cord is less than one of the more costly hammer drills on the market. Plus, there’s the added benefit that you won’t have to worry about running out of working power – this drill is in it for the long haul.
The SKIL 6445-04 hammer drill is also much lighter than many of the other hammer drills currently on the market. We find this very helpful because it makes it easier to work with and go back and forth between tools. Although hammer driver drills are very effective and easy to use, they are typically also somewhat difficult to carry around and use.
Many construction workers and masons find that hammer drills can be bulky and awkward to use – even if they are in a more compact design. However, weighing in at only about 5.5 pounds, the SKIL 6445-04 helps to eliminate this problem.
Another great feature of the SKIL 6445-04 hammer driver drill is that it boasts a ½ inch keyed chuck. This makes it easier to use the hammer drill for materials other than stone and cement because it makes it easier to find a chuck for wooden or metal materials to fit the hole. However, if you’re going to use your hammer driver drill for wood or metal work, make sure that you turn off the hammer setting.
Using the hammering action for wood or metal materials could potentially ruin the hammer driver drill and make your investment worthless. Be sure to be aware of what setting you use the hammer driver drill in and what materials you’re working with so your machine will be able to last and maintain peak performance.
